Aligarh Muslim University is more than a century old seat of higher learning. With its Founder’s motto it has been taking special care of imparting education to the marginalized and deprived sections of society for a long time by now. Center for Distance Education, AMU, Aligarh is one of its platforms that aims at ‘Reaching the Un-reached’. It intends to :

• Provide opportunities for education through courses in general education and vocational programmes
• Provide alternative, cost-effective and non-formal channel of education;
• Provide education to learners belonging especially to the socio-economically backward regions and communities;

Provide certificate, diploma, and degree courses related to employment and nation building.

I pray and hope that the Center for Distance Education succeeds in meeting the dreams and aspirations of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the Aligrah Muslim University, also reflected in UGC Vision Plan, UGC’s call for ‘Equity, Access, and Inclusiveness’, and the recommendations of the Sachchar Committee Report.
